긴박한 전개와 스타일리시한 미장센이 돋보이는 가이 리치(Guy Ritchie) 감독의 영화 <젠틀맨(The Gentlemen, 2020)>. 클라이언트는 영국 술집 특유의 분위기와 이 영화에 등장하는 고풍스럽고 묵직한 공간들을 바의 내부로 끌어오길 바랐다. THIS IS PYVBAR PECHERSK를 설계한 발베크 뷰로우는 레트로한 스타일의 영화 속 펍을 재현하기 위해 이런 미학에 대한 놀라운 비전을 제시했다. 새롭게 재해석한 1층은 여느 영국 선술집이 그렇듯 나무로 된 의자와 테이블, 낮은 조도의 조명이 공간을 메운다.

우크라이나 키이우에 위치한 이곳은 325명의 손님을 수용할 수 있는 넉넉한 좌석이 마련된 펍이다. 발베크가 과거 작업한 여섯 개의 THIS IS PYVBAR와 사뭇 다른 페체르스크 지점은 기존 프로젝트에 존재하는 요소들을 보존함과 동시에 손님들을 위한 대기 장소, 라이브 무대, 화려한 네온 컬러의 파이선(python)을 위한 공간을 제공한다.

The main reference from the client was the crime comedy <The Gentlemen> directed by Guy Ritchie. The owner of the establishment wanted to bring the atmosphere of an English pub and other locations that were featured in the film into the interior. We offered our vision of this aesthetic. The ground floor was decorated in dark colors, finished with wood, and complemented by the customary dim lighting seen in pubs. The second floor was transformed into an old British train station: with sofas often seen in the waiting rooms and authentic lampposts, slightly worn and scratched.

지하층은 두 개의 식당, 부엌, 여러 개의 다용도실을 결합하고 있다. 화장실과 대기 구역이 준비된 첫 번째 홀은 입구 맞은편 가장 먼 곳에 바가 자리 잡고 있으며, 왼쪽 연단에는 더 많은 좌석과 오픈 키친이 있다. 오래된 나무, 타일, 화강암 세 가지 재료를 결합해 천장과 같은 컬러로 통일감을 부여했다. 라이브 공연을 즐길 수 있는 두 번째 홀과의 환승구역에는 복도 왼쪽으로 냉장실이, 오른쪽에는 천장이 낮은 욕실이 있다. 영국의 고전적인 느낌을 축소하고 스테인리스 강판으로 디자인한 이곳은 미래지향적인 곡선형 거울이 비치되어 있다.

The space on the second floor is divided into several zones. Guests can dine in a larger hall decorated in the style of a train station or in a smaller hall with a bar. A bookcase separates them with openings, which transmit light from one room to another. Seating on this floor is mixed: dining and bar, hard and soft. There is an informal area for performances in the main hall: instead of a classic stage stand two chairs surrounded by flower pots.

2층은 오래된 영국 기차역을 추억할 수 있는 공간이다. 대합실에서 흔히 볼 수 있는 소파와 낡고 긁힌 가로등 기둥이 포인트다. 두 층의 서로 다른 스타일을 강조하기 위해 발베크는 다양한 재료, 맞춤형 가구 및 장식 요소를 사용했다. 이런 디테일은 손님의 관심을 끌기 위한 경쟁이 아닌 '더 큰 아이디어와의 조화'로 연결된다.

Most of the furniture and decorative elements for THIS IS PYVBAR PECHERSK were custom-made. These include sofas made according to references based on real train stations and ten different types of tables with distinct legs and countertops. Even the door handles are custom in each bathroom. THIS IS PYVBAR in Pechersk is a project in which we managed to combine more than 500 items of furniture and finishes. It is not always easy to work on such detailed interiors, but the result - a customized design that fully satisfies the clients requests - is always worth the effort.
